§ 7-7. Burial permits.

  • No corpse shall be interred in any public or private cemetery or removed from the city until a permit for such interment or removal shall have been obtained from the health officer. Such permit shall be issued upon written application made by the undertaker or other interested person, in which application there shall be given such information in regard to the deceased as may be required by the board of health or by the rules of the city council. The city manager shall cause to be kept a register of all interments made in any city cemetery, in which shall appear the name of the deceased, the date and place of interment and such other information as may be required in the application for the permit. It shall be the duty of the city manager when required to inter any deceased person entitled to burial within a city cemetery to cause an employee of the city, within a reasonable time, to dig a grave of suitable dimensions and to superintend the burial of the corpse therein.
